Women suffer more from insomnia

Women suffer more from insomnia
Did you know that women struggle with both insomnia and sleep trouble more than men. Specifically, studies found women to be 40% more likely than men to suffer from sleep problems, with middle-aged women at the greatest risk (55%).

Below are some reasons for sleeplessness in women:
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Higher incidences of restless leg syndrome
  • Discomfort associated with hormonal fluctuation
  • Hot flashes with menopause
  • Discomfort during pregnancy
  • Too much thinking

“Maintain good sleep habits”

What treatment is there for insomnia?
Some doctors might recommend you to initiate mindful meditation and prepare the body for more restful sleep. What really helps is if you know the cause of the sleep trouble. Is it psychological, or is there something biological or hormonal going on? Try to seek treatment based on the specific cause, for example cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia or medical treatment for the biological issue. Sometimes changing seasons can have an effect on how well you sleep. Understanding what your body is signally to you, is key.

Maintaining a healthy eating habit and keeping your body hydrated, especially during the summer is very important.
